Spirited is an original one-off acrylic hand painting on a deep canvas by Cambridgeshire Artist, Rachel James, Spirited is 61cm x 46cm x 3.5cm.
I began this painting with expressive charcoal marks, moving quickly and instinctively. I mixed the paints and got started, I had a rough idea of how I wanted to start the brush marks but then it moves beyond that and it takes on its own energy. When I find myself ‘out of the zone’ I stop. (Because this is when you can overwork, I’ve had to learn this.) I was honestly blown away by the finished result, the brush marks, the colour, the energy, it’s come together exactly as it was supposed to and it will never happen again exactly the same.
