This painting was inspired by looking down at newly fallen Autumn leaves on the ground, the incredible surface pattern with pops of red, orange and yellow. I created all the painted and printed textures in the leaves. I went to town on a dark, moody Turner-esque inky background to give depth because the actual ground was the tarmac of a kids’ playground. Creativity strikes anytime!
Rachel incorporates texture and collage media into each layer of her paintings; vintage books, newspapers, tissue paper, printed paper, along with acrylic inks, paints and mediums to create depth and texture. She creates her own printed papers and draws with collage and acrylic paint until the colours vibrate.
The painting wraps beautifully around the edges therefore framing is not necessary. It is professionally finished with gloss varnish which can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Each painting comes ready-to-hang.
