I had a special request for a lavender painting which made me happy because lavender was already on my list for summer paintings. I planted this lavender hedge three years ago; it’s really coming on. I couldn’t wait to see it in bloom!
I’m working on a few colour variations with different customers in mind but I’m struggling to find much time to paint.
I try and do a five-minute-drawing daily so when I can paint at the weekend I can get stuck in and I’m not coming to it ‘cold’. I often dream about the paintings and wake up having problem solved the creative challenge. That’s been happening this week.
This weekends work will include gelli plate printing papers for collaging the lavender flowers; drawing composition thumbnails and getting started on the paintings.
It’s looking very purple, lilac and blue in the Old School House Art studio this weekend….
