Lavender IV was a composition study from Lavender I, an area of the painting I particularly liked and wanted to work into a small-size abstract painting on handcut board. The colours are purples, lilacs, pinks, lime and turquoise.
Rachel incorporates texture and collage media into each layer of her paintings; vintage books, newspapers, tissue paper, printed paper, along with acrylic inks, paints and mediums to create depth and texture. She creates her own printed papers and draws with collage and acrylic paint until the colours vibrate.
